Who is Mike Fitzgerald?
Michael D. Fitzgerald is a lawyer licensed to practice in Kansas and Missouri State and Federal courts and the United States Supreme Court. Currently, Mike is devoting nearly all of his time and experience to dispute resolution. Prior to his retirement from that firm in 2010 , he had been a principal in the Kansas City firm of Van Osdol and Magruder, P.C. for 25 years. Mike received his law degree (J. D.) from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) in 1968 and B.A. from Benedictine College (formerly St. Benedict’s).
For most of his legal career, Mike has been a litigator and a business and employment attorney. Over the years, however, he has represented a broad clientele in nearly every type of dispute. Not only has he tried cases in State and Federal courts but has also appeared before numerous State and Federal boards, agencies, and commissions. As well as individuals, Mike’s clients have included hospitals, nursing homes, insurance companies, manufacturers, construction companies and sales organizations. He has represented several units of local government including the Kansas City Election Board, Little Blue Valley Sewer District and as the attorney (Hearing Officer) for the North Kansas City Police and Fire and Personnel Board.
Mike’s community involvement has included leadership of the UMKC Alumni, Committee for County Progress, and Kansas City Jazz Ambassadors. He currently serves as legal advisor to the Labor-Management Council of Greater Kansas City which also honored him with their Outstanding Service award in 2014.
