What does Mike Fitzgerald do?
Mike is a lawyer who now primarily serves as a mediator. He also continues to serve as an arbitrator for FINRA (formerly NASD) Dispute Resolution. FINRA is the independent regulator of the securities industry subject to SEC oversight.
A long-time advocate of ADR, Mike was first trained as Missouri Rule 17 mediator 20 years ago and recertified in 2009. He is a mediator in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri Mediation and Assessment Program (“MAP”). Following 45 years of wide-ranging legal practice, Mike is familiar with the objectives and motivation of the parties to most disputes. He has confronted a myriad of issues with his clients. Business clients have issues such as shareholder disputes, governance issues, property issues and insurance coverage disputes. Mike has represented both employers and employees in statutory discrimination, harassment and retaliation cases as well as non-compete and severance disputes.
As an arbitrator for FINRA, Mike has been involved in Hearings /Decisions in over 30 contested cases. He has served as Chair of most of these panels.
Mike is a member of the Missouri Mediators Association and the Heartland Mediators Association.
